PSAT/NMSQT 2009

New! Sophomores and Juniors are invited to the PSAT Workshop on January 11 at 7pm. The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) was administered on October 14, 2009 in all Howard County high schools to all sophomores and to all juniors. This test is given once a year! All sophomores and juniors took this test during the school day as preparation for the SAT. Ninth graders, with the appropriate mathematics level
who wish to take the test may come to the guidance office to register. Registration for ninth graders began on Sept. 25th.

The PSAT/NMSQT is a multiple-choice test that measures critical reading skills, math problem- solving skills and writing skills important for success in college.
The score of the juniors is used as qualifying information for the National Achievement Scholarship Program and the National Merit Scholarship Program
for Outstanding Black Students.

Students are asked to bring a calculator and 2 number two pencils to the test. The test takes approximately two and a half hours plus 40 minutes for administration. Students who receive special accommodations for test administration need to see Ms. Millen as soon as school begins. Check to make certain that the paper work for your testing accommodations is complete and accurate. For more important information, please see the Things to Know about the PSAT/NMSQT.
