  Ms. Tammye F. Blossom - Teachers' Secretary  
Ms. Tammye Blossom was born in North Carolina and earned
a Bachelor's degree in Business Education with a
Concentration in Office Administration from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She started her career as a database administrator for area government contractors, then became a stay-at-home mom for 7 years. She worked as a substitute
teacher in a Christian school for 4 years and in public school
  for 1 year; she served as a Church Office Administrator for 7 years. Ms. Blossom is married, with two sons and one daughter. She loves relaxing at home with family
and friends, trying new restaurants, sightseeing, and watching 80's sitcoms.
 
Ms. Laura Henry - English
Ms. Laura Henry graduated from Towson University with a
B.S. in English and a M.Ed. in Special Education. She taught tenth and twelfth grade English in Harford County for five
and a half years. Ms. Henry and her husband (who has been
a Howard County teacher for eight years) have a wonderful
seven month old daughter. She enjoys travel (domestic and foreign) and outdoor adventures. She also loves to watch
  "Project Runway" on TV. Ms. Henry looks forward to meeting everyone and to
working with the students and staff at Hammond High School.
 
Mr. Omri Kagan - Mathematics

Mr. Omri Kagan was born in Israel. He graduated from
Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas and earned a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
The '08-'09 school year will be Mr. Kagan's first year as a secondary math teacher and his third year as an employee
in the county. He is married with no children. He loves to
follow politics closely
and enjoys the NBA and NFL, test

  driving different cars, and cooking.
 
 
Ms. Teresa Macek - Special Education
Ms. Teresa Macek was born in Sharon, PA and graduated from Sharpsville High School, in Sharpsville, PA. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia University, attended Youngstown State Univ. in Youngstown, OH, and received her Special Education Certification. The '08-
'09 school year will be Ms. Macek's 16th year as a secondary special education teacher and her 2nd year in Howard County
  Schools. She spent 1 year as an elementary special education teacher and 1 year as a 4th grade teacher. Ms. Macek is married and has two sons. She enjoys spending
time with family, watching movies, shopping, and going to the beach.
 
Mr. James Pendred - Science
Mr. James Pendred was born in Pittsburgh, PA. and graduated from Steel Valley HS in Munhall, PA. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education Earth and Space Science and is currently accepted to Johns Hopkins Univ. for an Earth and Space Certificate leading to a Master's degree. Mr. Pendred
was an Earth and Space full time substitute at Steel Valley HS
in 2006. He taught 9th grade Earth and Space Science at
  Lackey HS in Charles County in 2006-07 and Elementary Computer Studies in
grades 1-5 at the International School of Trieste, Italy in 2007-08. Mr. Pendred is married and loves biking, hiking, tennis, wrestling, ultimate Frisbee, and football.
 
Ms. Katie Podson - Alternative Learning Program
Ms. Katie Podson was born in Miami, Florida and graduated from Mt. Hebron HS. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary/Special Education from Hood College in Frederick, MD. The '08-'09 school year will be Mrs. Podson's 1st year as a secondary special education teacher; she has 10 years
experience working with the Extended School Year program at Cedar Lane school. Ms. Podson is single; she loves to travel
  and loves dance, theatre, music, football, and her dog Troy.
 
Mr. Michael Terwilliger - Special Education
Mr. Michael J. Terwilliger was born in Kingston, NY and graduated from Kingston High School in Sharon, MA. He
earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Plattsburg, NY University and a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of New Paltz, NY. The '08-'09 school year will be
Mr. Terwilliger's 5th year as a secondary education teacher
and his 1st year at Hammond High. He is single and loves to
  travel; he has lived in China. Mr. Terwilliger enjoys running, sports, his beagle Sadie, and working with children.
 
Ms. Monica Tristan - ESOL
Mrs. Monica Tristan was born in Bogota, Colombia and graduated from Centennial HS. She earned a Bachelor's
degree in Spanish at Towson University and a Master's
degree in ISD/ESOL from UMBC. Mrs. Tristan taught for four years in Frederick County, Maryland at the secondary level;
this will be her first year teaching ESOL at Hammond HS.
She loves to travel, fix up old houses, go shopping, spend time
  with family, and watch "Top Chef".
