| STUDENT NAMES ON DIPLOMAS All seniors were asked to verify that the school has the official spelling of their full name. This must be verified in order for the diploma to be correct. Please make sure that you have checked with Ms. McQueen to verify that the spelling of your name is correct. SENIOR OBLIGATIONS: Mrs. Loschiavo has a list of all seniors who owe Hammond High School money for any reason. The obligations must be paid before you will be allowed to attend MORP, PROM, Class Night, Senior Picnic, or the Graduation Ceremony. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Yikes! If your name is on her list, take care of this IMMEDIATELY! Mrs. Yvonne Lanier will have a copy of the list. LAST SENIOR CLASS DAY: May 22, 2009. Yippee! New! GRADUATION DATE: Hammond High School's graduation exercises will be Thursday, May 28, at 12:00 noon. School will be dismissed at 10:45 am on graduation day. Please mark your calendars. New! GRADUATION REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: TUESDAY, MAY 19 Seniors will go to "A" lunch from 10:35 to 11:05 and then report to the auditorium for the first graduation rehearsal. All seniors must remain in the auditorium until rehearsal ends at 2:10pm. WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 Seniors will go to "A" lunch 10:35 to 11:05 and then report to the auditorium for the second graduation rehearsal. All seniors must remain in the auditorium until rehearsal ends at 2:10pm. Caps, gowns, announcements and graduation tickets will be distributed at this rehearsal. Students must clear their financial and school obligations before receiving caps and gowns, graduation tickets. THURSDAY, MAY 21 Seniors will go to "A" lunch from 10:20 TO 10:50 and then report to the auditorium for the third graduation rehearsal. All seniors must remain in the auditorium until rehearsal ends at 2:10pm. EVENING AWARDS PROGRAM: 7:00pm: This is a mandatory dress rehearsal. Seniors should dress in full graduation attire. All seniors are required to attend this program. FRIDAY, MAY 22 9:25AM: All seniors report to the gymnasium for Class of 2009 picture. Students should dress in full graduation attire. 10:00AM: Senior picnic WEDNESDAY, MAY 27 11:00AM: Final dress Rehearsal at Hammond HS Auditorium THURSDAY, MAY 28 12:00NOON: GRADUATION AT MERRIWEATHER PAVILION PARTICIPATION IN CEREMONY: The graduation ceremony is not mandatory for receiving a diploma. Students who wish to decline the ceremony must request to be excused by the principal in a formal, written letter submitted NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2009. Students who choose to participate in the graduation ceremony must attend ALL rehearsals, be on time and stay for the entire rehearsal. Students must request the principals approval to miss any part of rehearsals. Work commitments on May 19, 20, 21, 22 and 27 are NOT approved reasons to be excused. Please make all arrangements necessary to be in school until 2:10PM on those dates. HANDICAP PARKING: Handicap parking forms will be distributed at graduation rehearsal. Handicap parking is limited; however there will be a handicap drop-off for those persons who cannot walk the distance from the parking lot to the seating area. SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER If anyone is in need of a sign language interpreter during the graduation ceremony or awards programs, please notify Ms. Yvonne Lanier, Graduation Coordinator immediately so that one can be obtained. REQUIRED ATTIRE FOR GRADUATION AND AWARDS PROGRAM Required attire for graduation, both awards programs, and the senior class picture, is graduation gown, cap and tassel. These will be distributed at the May 20 rehearsal. Gowns should be removed from the bag, ironed, and hung on a hanger. Students who have not yet ordered a cap, gown and tassel must see Ms. Brandinger or Ms. Newsome. Caps need to be worn flat on the head, not tilted. Use bobby pins to secure if necessary. The tassel is worn on the left. Female students must wear white dresses or skirts (NO PANTS) that will not show through the graduation gown. White or off white shoes with heels should accompany the gown. Large-heeled or dangerous shoes and flip flops are not permitted. Large earrings, bracelets and showy jewelry are not permitted. Male students must wear white, collared shirts, a dark tie and dark pants. NO KHAKI PANTS! NO JEANS! Dark, closed shoes and dark socks are also required. NO TENNIS SHOES, SNEAKERS, BOOTS OR SANDALS! Students who choose to participate in the formal ceremonies must follow the standards. Please take these requirements seriously. Anyone not wearing the required attire will be asked to step out of line and go home. If anyone has difficulty providing this attire, please see Ms. Lanier privately. It is important to Hammond High School that everyone who wants to participate does so. PICTURES OF GRADUATES Graduates will have their pictures taken by Segall-Majestic as they receive their diplomas and will be offered a chance to buy the pictures. Proofs will be mailed home to graduates for approval and purchase options. Direct questions to them at 410-525-1700. A private company will be video taping the ceremony and will offer the tape for sale. Purchase order forms will be available during graduation rehearsals. GRADUATION TICKETS Graduation tickets have been printed and will be distributed at the May 20 rehearsal. ONLY students who have PAID ALL OF THEIR OBLIGATIONS TO HAMMOND HIGH SCHOOL will receive extra tickets. FINANCIAL AND SCHOOL OBLIGATIONS Students must clear their financial and school obligations before receiving caps and gowns, graduation tickets or diplomas. Teachers and coaches will be turning in a list of debts owed. If students do not take care of these debts before final exams, a list will be posted at graduation rehearsals. Media center debts should be paid directly to Ms. Dunn; all other debts can be paid to Ms. Carol Losciavo, Finance Secretary. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL EXAMS TO ADDRESS YOUR FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS. ASK YOUR TEACHER NOW TO AVIOD DELAYED GOWNS, TICKETS AND DIPLOMAS! Checks can be made payable to Hammond High School. AWARDS PROGRAMS There will be one awards program for graduating seniors on Thursday, May 21 at 7:00 PM at Hammond High School. All seniors must attend this program because this program is your formal dress rehearsal. In addition, you may receive an award from the school or community. For the evening ceremony graduates wear formal graduation attire; this includes appropriate dress as well as cap and gown. COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS Seniors who will be attending college need a final transcript from guidance. Students needing this document must take a stamped, addressed envelope to guidance no later than Wednesday, May 20, 2009 so that guidance can mail a final transcript after graduation. x |

It should be a beautiful location to create great memories! The date is Saturday, May 9, 2009! Support Our Local Merchants And Make Your Life Easier! Plans are underway to bring a representative from Kings Contrivance Formal Wear, Harris Teeter, and Glamour Salon to school during lunch periods so that you can order your formal wear, corsages/boutonnieres, and schedule your pre-prom pampering! More info will be announced shortly. Plan on taking advantage of this opportunity to "get just what you wanted" without the hassle normally associated with prom preparation! Guests Are Allowed At PROM! However, you must complete a Guest Form and have it approved before you purchase your tickets. Guest Forms are available in the Front Office and must be completely filled out. Don't leave this until the last moment! There is usually a two-week turnaround period! Beware! Who May Attend Prom? A good question! Only Seniors and Juniors are allowed to purchase tickets, however, underclass members may attend as their guests/ dates. PROM Is A Formal Dance! That means men should dress in tuxedos and women should dress in formal gowns (long or short lengths are both acceptable). Please select age-appropriate apparel, you want to make the right kind of statement for this special night! PROM TICKETS: These will be sold by Order Form only- there will be no sales during lunch periods. The forms will be passed out through your English classes sometime in early March and must be turned in by March 31! Read the form carefully as it will contain information about any discounts being offered to our students by local merchants. For the Prom Ticket Order Form, Prom Court nominations, Discount Coupons, and Permisson Slip/Liability Waiver, click here. These can also be obtained in the Front Office. There will only be 500 tickets available, so act quickly-this event is usually a sellout! AFTER PROM: On May 9 - 10th, 2009, the PTSA will host another special post-prom party. This event is a drug and alcohol free alternative to unsupervised home and hotel parties. The After Prom is this Sunday May 10th at the United Artist Snowden Square 14 Theater located at 9161 Commerce Center Drive Columbia MD 21046, behind Home Depot and BJ's, from 12:30AM - 5:00AM. This years After Prom will provide the following: Entertainment: DDR, Rock Band, photo key chains, Caricature Artists, basketball shoot out, card games and more! Movies: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past Food: subs, pasta, fruit, chicken nuggets, cookies, brownies, Dreyer's ice cream treats and more! Prizes: Restaurant gift cards, Store Gift cards, Bowling passes, iPods, iPod Touch, Digital cameras, and many more! REMINDERS: Check in starts at 12:30 AM and students must have their ticket and a photo ID and arrive by 1AM. The After Prom ends at 5AM Sunday morning. All bags and purses will be checked at the door as stated in the permission/waiver slip. Once a student leaves the building they are NOT allowed to return. NEW this year, an auditorium will be available as a clothes/bags check in so you can come from the Prom and change at the theater! The auditorium will be supervised and monitored by parent volunteers through out the night to keep the possessions safe. Students can pick up their possessions before they leave or at the end of the night by asking the parent volunteer at the clothes/bag check in marked auditorium for assistance. PRIZES!!! We have GREAT prizes this year and student names will be called all through the night, but you need to be at the After Prom to collect a prize. GRAND PRIZES for Seniors and Juniors will be drawn at the end of the evening. VOLUNTEERS It is not to late to volunteer at this years After Prom. There are various areas to help, set-up, check in, serving food, monitoring an entertainment item, Security and more!
