Hammond celebrated the life of Mr. Bob Gross on Thursday, December 17 through song, dance, and sharing of fond memories. Staff, students, alumni, friends and family gathered for a 90 minute service that highlighted Mr. Gross’s
contributions to the school and his impact on those he taught and worked with.
The evening was bittersweet, beginning with a photo montage of Bob
from childhood through this summer. There were many lighthearted moments, however, as students and staff recalled Mr. Gross’s affectionate teasing, unique
dance moves, and memorable (lack of) hairstyle. Performances included “A
Brighter Day” by the Junior Dance Company, “Mamela” by the Dance Company, theatre students singing “Circle of Life,” “For Good,” and “Seasons of Love,”
which included a lyrical dance by two of Hammond’s Dance Company alumni.
Over $6,000 was raised for the Robert H. Gross Memorial Scholarship Fund which will be given to students in Dance, Theatre, and Special Education who demonstrate compassion, creativity, and commitment in their time at Hammed High School. Contributions to the Fund may be made directly, or you may buy a
